Our story
A proper Cornish eating house — with the kettle always on
The Windy Ridge has been a familiar stop on the A38 for years — the place locals bring visiting family, walkers pause for a slice of cake, and Sunday drivers from Plymouth cross the bridge to find a carvery worth the trip.
It is a family-run, fully licensed eating house. The pies, soups, scones and cakes are made in our own kitchen. The portions are generous, the prices are honest, and there is nearly always someone behind the counter who will remember your order.

We are family-run, and you can feel it. Friendly faces, real conversation, and a cup of tea waiting whether it is your first visit or your fiftieth.
A Place for Everyone
Babies, grandparents, dogs on leads, walking groups, families with hungry teenagers — they all find a seat here. There is a play area outside for the little ones.

At Trerulefoot between Saltash and Plymouth, with a large free car park. The perfect stop on the way into Cornwall — or the highlight of a Sunday drive.

Afternoon
Cakes & cream teas
A glass display of homemade cakes that changes daily, warm scones with clotted cream, a proper pot of tea. The kind of afternoon you do not want to leave.
Every Sunday
The carvery
Beef, turkey or gammon, all the trimmings and a Yorkshire pudding the size of a side plate. The reason a lot of our regulars first stopped in.
Outside
A garden, a play area, and a view
When the sun is out, the picnic benches on the decking are the best seat in the house. The little ones can burn off energy on the slides while you finish a second cup of tea and take in the Cornish countryside.
Dogs are welcome on a lead. The car park is large and free. And if you are coming with a group, just give us a ring — we will save you a table.
